Door Energy® 210Kwh powers Queensland construction site, slashing emissions and operating costs
Construction sites across Oceania are increasingly seeking efficient, eco-friendly power alternatives to support job site needs while minimizing fuel consumption and operational costs. Mobile battery energy storage systems (BESS) are emerging as viable solutions, offering flexibility, reduced generator runtime, and significant fuel and operational savings.
The Challenge
At a Queensland construction site, one of the country’s leading heavy equipment rental companies and their customer, a large multinational construction company, aimed to address these needs while powering two office trailers for a busy worksite. Traditionally, diesel generators have met these energy demands, yet they bring drawbacks, including high fuel costs, noise, and frequent maintenance needs. The challenge: finding an energy solution that could operate efficiently, meet power needs for multiple workstations, and reduce the reliance on diesel.
The Solution
To sustainably meet the site’s energy needs, a Door Energy® by 210kWh Mobile BESS unit was deployed hybridized with a 45kVA diesel generator. This configuration enabled the Door Energy® 210Kwh to deliver emission-free power for most of the day, using the diesel generator only when needed to recharge the BESS unit. The Door Energy® ’s advanced “Smart Hybrid” technology allowed for seamless integration with the diesel generator, automatically managing its use based on battery charge levels. This setup provided reliable power to the trailers’ air-conditioned office spaces, equipped with workstations for 9–10 employees, while significantly reducing the diesel generator’s runtime.
Wider Applications
The success of the Door Energy® by 210kWh at this Queensland job site demonstrates the broad applicability of hybridized BESS systems for construction and beyond. Construction firms across North America, especially those operating under stringent emissions regulations, can benefit from Portable Electric’s mobile power solutions. For any job site looking to lower operational expenses and improve environmental performance, the Door Energy® series offers a scalable, sustainable solution.
